Loops Collection

Inspired by Studiomama’s Re-imagine range, the Loops Collection was developed in connection with a bespoke commission for the restaurant and private dining room at the Mandrake Hotel. MARK Product’s brief was to adapt the Re-imagined Chair concept for the contract furniture market.

Loops was developed to include a stool, two chairs, two sofas, two benches and three tables, inspired by the original Re-imagined Chair and reflecting the blurring boundaries of life and work by creating playful spaces in which people can think differently.

We increased the size by 10%, used an ergonomic plywood and foam construction to offer comfort and offered a choice of bright colours in Kvadrat Canvas, Camira Blazer and RAL coloured frames. Crucially, we kept the distinctive proportions that gave the Re-imagined Chair its personality.

With its distinct aesthetic the Loops collection can be used to create character in many settings. The breadth of the range, in which all pieces are based on the distinctive ‘loop’ shape, allows for work or play to happen within hospitality, education and workplace environments.

The Loops Collection is 100% manufactured in the UK, designed for easy disassembly, and produced in accordance with Mark Product’s ethos and standards for sustainable production.

‘There’s something delightful about the story of Loops. Perhaps it is the functionality and playfulness of a chair that “stretches” into a bench, or the seemingly organic evolution of a craft-made object into a manufactured product, but I have a feeling a lot of it has to do with the wonderfully collaborative efforts of designer Studiomama and manufacturer MARK Product’ said OnOffice.

  • 10x10 drawing the City

Studiomama's contribution to "10x10 Drawing the City", Article 25's annual fundraising auction.

Article 25 works with vulnerable communities recovering from disasters around the world by helping construct more resilient schools, clinics and other buildings. These buildings are also architecturally distinguished as in the case of the Gourcey school in Burkina Faso which featured in last year's World Architecture Festival. In its tenth year, Article 25 is in an exciting stage of development aimed at making an impact on people's lives at a larger scale, building on the individual prototypes we have been developing.

10x10 is based on drawing a grid of an hundred squares on a part of London for a hundred prominent artists/architects to produce a drawing or other work of art in some way related to or inspired by ‘their’ square. This year we are venturing into the culturally diverse district of Brixton with the theme of ‘100 translated spaces’. Artists confirmed for the upcoming 10x10 include Antony Gormley, Richard Meier and Kengo Kuma amongst others.
